The ih264d decoder in mediaserver in Android 6.x before 2016-08-01 mishandles slice numbers, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted media file, aka internal bug 28673410.

The bug was discovered 05/06/2016. The weakness was released 08/01/2016 by Martin Barbella (Oliver) with Google Chrome Security Team as Android Security Bulletin - August 2016 as confirmed security bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared for download at source.android.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-3820 since 03/30/2016. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
