A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Wireshark up to 1.8.7 (Packet Analyzer Software). Affected by this issue is the function dissect_schedule_message of the file packet-gsm_cbch.c of the component GSM CBCH Dissector. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The dissect_schedule_message function in epan/dissectors/packet-gsm_cbch.c in the GSM CBCH dissector in Wireshark 1.8.x before 1.8.8 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop and application hang) via a crafted packet.

The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-4079 since 06/09/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy.
