A vulnerability was found in TeamSpeak Server (the affected version unknown). It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function PermissionManager::getChannelGroupInherited. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and availability.
The weakness was published 08/12/2016 by Hanz Jenson as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is available at seclists.org. The vendor was not involved in the coordination of the public release. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details and a private exploit are known.

For example using "/../../../etc/passwd" gives "bad path" while "/../../../etc/passwz" gives "no such file". This can be used to determine the remote OS and installed software, enumerate open fds, etc.
