Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted web site, aka "Internet Explorer Memory Corruption Vulnerability," a different vulnerability than CVE-2013-3117 and CVE-2013-3124.
The issue has been introduced in 03/16/2010. The weakness was shared 06/11/2013 as MS13-047 as confirmed advisory (Website) via ZDI (Zero Day Initiative). The advisory is available at technet.microsoft.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-3122 since 04/17/2013. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/14/2021). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product decreasing in the near future.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1183 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k. Applying the patch MS13-047 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
