A vulnerability was found in VideoLAN VLC Media Player up to 2.0.6 (Multimedia Player Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component XML Service. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory allocation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-789. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with VideoLAN. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-3564 since 05/21/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
