Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Pandora FMS Monitoring 1.3/2.1. This affects some unknown functionality of the component Notes Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was presented 07/18/2011 as VL-ID 105 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at vulnerability-lab.com. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 2 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
