A vulnerability was found in CrackLib (affected version not known). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function FascistGecosUser in the library lib/fascist.c. The manipulation of the argument GECOS with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Stack-based buffer overflow in the FascistGecosUser function in lib/fascist.c in cracklib allows local users to cause a denial of service (application crash) or gain privileges via a long GECOS field, involving longbuffer.
