A vulnerability was found in NetMRI up to 7.1.0. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the file config/userAdmin/login.tdf. The manipulation of the argument _formstack/skipjackPassword/skipjackUsername with the input value %3C/script%3E%3Cscript%3Ealert%281%29%3C/script%3E leads to a crlf injection vulnerability (Reflected). Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-93. The product uses CRLF (carriage return line feeds) as a special element, e.g. to separate lines or records, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes CRLF sequences from inputs. Impacted is confidentiality, and integrity.
The weakness was disclosed 09/07/2016 by Alex Haynes (Website). The advisory is shared for download at packetstormsecurity.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-6484 since 07/27/2016. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
A public exploit has been developed in URL/Javascript and been published immediately after the advisory. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
Upgrading to version 7.1.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
