Details
A vulnerability was found in Google Android (Smartphone Operating System) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component Mediaserver. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Integer overflow in the Region::unflatten function in libs/ui/Region.cpp in mediaserver in Android 6.x before 2016-09-01 and 7.0 before 2016-09-01 allows attackers to obtain sensitive information via a crafted application, aka internal bug 29983260.
The weakness was released 09/06/2016 as Android Security Bulletin - September 2016 as confirmed security bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared for download at source.android.com.
