The parser in Google V8, as used in Google Chrome before 53.0.2785.113, mishandles scopes, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information from arbitrary memory locations via crafted JavaScript code.
The weakness was released 09/13/2016 by Choongwoo Han with Yandex as Stable Channel Update for Desktop, September 2016 as confirmed release notes (Website). The advisory is shared for download at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-5172 since 05/31/2016. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
