A vulnerability was found in SonicWALL ViewPoint 6.0 SP2 (Firewall Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the file /sgms/reports/scheduledreports/configure/scheduleProps.jsp of the component Schedule Reports. The manipulation of the argument scheduleID with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was disclosed 10/01/2011 by Benjamin Kunz Mejri as VL-ID 196 as not defined advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vulnerability-lab.com. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. A single authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
A public exploit has been developed by Benjamin Kunz Mejri and been published immediately after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at vulnerability-lab.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 107 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:sgms/reports/scheduledreports/configure/scheduleProps.jsp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
