The weakness was presented 09/20/2016 by Meder Kydyraliev (Shrek_wzw) with Zero Day Initiative as HT207170 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-4715 since 05/11/2016. The exploitability is told to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. An issue existed in the handling of the .GlobalPreferences file. This was addressed though improved validation.
