A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Google Chrome 27.0.1453.94 (Web Browser). This affects an unknown code of the component Flash Element Opacity Handler. The Flash plug-in in Google Chrome before 27.0.1453.116, as used on Google Chrome OS before 27.0.1453.116 and separately, does not properly determine whether a user wishes to permit camera or microphone access by a Flash application, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information from a machine s physical environment via a clickjacking attack, as demonstrated by an attack using a crafted Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) opacity property.
The weakness was disclosed 06/10/2013 as Camjacking as not defined changelog entry (Website). The advisory is shared at habrahabr.ru. The public release happened without involvement of Google. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-2866 since 04/11/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details and a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
A public exploit has been developed in Macromedia Flash and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at habrahabr.ru. It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $25k-$100k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 66930 (Google Chrome < 27.0.1453.116 Flash Click-Jacking), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 121283 (Google Chrome Flash Plugin Clickjacking Vulnerability).
