A vulnerability has been found in LG Optimus, Mach, Prada and Lollipop (the affected version is unknown) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code of the component Backup. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was published 06/24/2013 by Justin Case with Google Chrome Security Team as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. The public release happened without involvement of LG. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-3685 since 05/28/2013. The exploitation appears to be difficult. An attack has to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
