Unrestricted file upload vulnerability in Apache Tomcat 7.x before 7.0.40, in certain situations involving outdated java.io.File code and a custom JMX configuration, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by uploading and accessing a JSP file.
The weakness was shared 10/19/2016 by Pierre Ernst with Vmware as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - October 2016 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at oracle.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-4444 since 06/12/2013. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059 for this issue.
