A vulnerability has been found in Mozilla Firefox up to 49.0.1 (Web Browser) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function nsTArray_base::SwapArrayElements. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-416. A potentially exploitable use-after-free crash during actor destruction with service workers. This issue does not affect releases earlier than Firefox 49. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 49.0.2.
The weakness was disclosed 10/21/2016 as MFSA 2016-87 as confirmed security advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-5287. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
