A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in cURL and libcURL up to 7.50.3 (Network Utility Software). This issue affects an unknown code of the component Cookie Jar. A flaw was found in curl before version 7.51. If cookie state is written into a cookie jar file that is later read back and used for subsequent requests, a malicious HTTP server can inject new cookies for arbitrary domains into said cookie jar.

The weakness was released 11/03/2016 with Cure53 as 7.50.3 vulnerabilities as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at curl.haxx.se. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-8615 since 10/12/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1211 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
