The bug was discovered 11/08/2016. The weakness was disclosed 11/08/2016 by Steven Seeley with VeriSign as MS16-133 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared at technet.microsoft.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-7233 since 09/09/2016. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.
