Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in IBM BigFix Remote Control up to 9.1.2 (Remote Access Software). This affects an unknown code of the component Encryption Algorithm. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
IBM BigFix Remote Control before 9.1.3 does not properly restrict the set of available encryption algorithms, which makes it easier for remote attackers to defeat cryptographic protection mechanisms by sniffing the network and performing calculations on encrypted data.
The bug was discovered 10/08/2016. The weakness was published 11/25/2016 (Website). The advisory is shared at www-01.ibm.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-2927 since 03/09/2016. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
