A vulnerability was found in e107 CMS 2.1.2 (Content Management System) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown part of the file e107_admin/admin_log.php of the component Backend. The manipulation with the input value mu7a3%2522%253e%253cscript%253ealert%25285%2529%253c%252fscript%253eejc48=1 leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The weakness was shared 11/30/2016 with Foxmole as [FOXMOLE SA 2016-05-02] e107 Content Management System (CMS) - Multiple Issues as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
