Details
A vulnerability was found in BlueZ 5.42. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function pin_code_reply_dump of the file tools/parser/hci.c of the component Array Handler. The manipulation of the argument pin_code_reply_cp with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In BlueZ 5.42, a buffer overflow was observed in "pin_code_reply_dump" function in "tools/parser/hci.c" source file. The issue exists because "pin" array is overflowed by supplied parameter due to lack of boundary checks on size of the buffer from frame "pin_code_reply_cp *cp" parameter.
