A full path disclosure vulnerability was discovered in phpMyAdmin where a user can trigger a particular error in the export mechanism to discover the full path of phpMyAdmin on the disk. All 4.6.x versions (prior to 4.6.4), 4.4.x versions (prior to 4.4.15.8), and 4.0.x versions (prior to 4.0.10.17) are affected.

The bug was discovered 08/06/2016. The weakness was disclosed 12/11/2016 by Emanuel Bronshtein (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-6610 since 08/06/2016. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. A single authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 23 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
