Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Tatsuya Kinoshita w3m up to 0.5.3-30 (Web Browser). This affects the function feed_table_tag of the component Table Span Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
An issue was discovered in the Tatsuya Kinoshita w3m fork before 0.5.3-31. The feed_table_tag function in w3m doesn't properly validate the value of table span, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (stack and/or heap buffer overflow) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted HTML page.
