A vulnerability was found in Apple iCloud up to 6.0 on Windows (Cloud Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the component WebKit. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability (State). The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-7639. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 96676 (Fedora 25 : webkitgtk4 (2017-b015aa1d33)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370265 (Apple iTunes Prior to 12.5.4 Multiple Vulnerabilities (HT207427)).
Upgrading to version 6.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
