Multiple issues existed in curl. These issues were addressed by updating to curl version 7.51.0.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 90 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 105441 (F5 Networks BIG-IP : libcurl vulnerability (K52828640)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 157987 (Oracle Enterprise Linux Security Update for curl (ELSA-2019-4652)).
Upgrading to version 10.12.2 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
