An issue was discovered in certain Apple products. macOS before 10.12.2 is affected. The issue involves the "IOFireWireFamily" component, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel memory via unspecified vectors.
The bug was discovered 12/13/2016. The weakness was presented 12/13/2016 by daybreaker@Minionz with Zero Day Initiative as HT207423 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-7608 since 09/09/2016. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
