A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 (Web Browser). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function CMarkup::ReloadInCompatView. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The bug was discovered 05/05/2014. The weakness was presented 12/13/2016 by Berend-Jan Wever (SkyLined) as MSIE 9 MSHTML CMarkup::ReloadInCompatView use-after-free as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. The public release happened without involvement of Microsoft. The attack may be initiated remotely.
