A vulnerability has been found in International Components for Unicode up to 54.0 on C/C++ and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function ures_getByKeyWithFallback of the file common/uresbund.cpp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Stack-based buffer overflow in the ures_getByKeyWithFallback function in common/uresbund.cpp in International Components for Unicode (ICU) before 54.1 for C/C++ allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted uloc_getDisplayName call.
The bug was discovered 11/29/2016. The weakness was released 01/04/2017 by Andy (Website). The advisory is available at bugs.icu-project.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-9911 since 11/24/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
