An exploitable out-of-bounds read exists in the handling of the MXIT protocol in Pidgin. Specially crafted MXIT contact information sent from the server can result in memory disclosure.
The bug was discovered 06/21/2016. The weakness was presented 01/06/2017 by Yves Younan with Cisco Talos (Website). The advisory is shared for download at debian.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-2375 since 02/12/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
