A vulnerability was found in Adobe Acrobat Reader up to 11.0.18/15.006.30244/15.020.20042 (Document Reader Software). It has been rated as critical. Adobe Acrobat Reader versions 15.020.20042 and earlier, 15.006.30244 and earlier, 11.0.18 and earlier have an exploitable heap overflow vulnerability when parsing the segment for storing non-graphic information. Successful exploitation could lead to arbitrary code execution.
The bug was discovered 01/10/2017. The weakness was disclosed 01/05/2017 by Steven Seeley with Nanyang Technological University as APSB17-01 as confirmed security bulletin (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at helpx.adobe.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-2946 since 12/02/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
