RESTful web services in CA Service Desk Manager 12.9 and CA Service Desk Management 14.1 might allow remote authenticated users to read or modify task information by leveraging incorrect permissions applied to a RESTful request.
The bug was discovered 01/10/2017. The weakness was presented 01/10/2017 by Bruno de Barros Bulle as CA20170109-01: Security Notice for CA Service Desk Manager as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with CA. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-10086 since 12/30/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
