Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Artifex MuJS. Affected is the function regemit of the file regexp.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
An integer overflow vulnerability was observed in the regemit function in regexp.c in Artifex Software, Inc. MuJS before fa3d30fd18c348bb4b1f3858fb860f4fcd4b2045. The attack requires a regular expression with nested repetition. A successful exploitation of this issue can lead to code execution or a denial of service (buffer overflow) condition.
