In Apache NiFi before 1.0.1 and 1.1.x before 1.1.1, there is a cross-site scripting vulnerability in connection details dialog when accessed by an authorized user. The user supplied text was not being properly handled when added to the DOM.
The bug was discovered 01/16/2017. The weakness was published 01/16/2017 by Matt Gilman as [SECURITY] CVE-2016-8748: Apache NiFi XSS vulnerability in connection details dialogue as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-8748 since 10/18/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
