A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Huawei E587 3G Mobile Hotspot 11.203.27. This affects an unknown functionality of the component SMS Message Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. This is going to have an impact on integrity.
The weakness was shared 07/15/2013 by Frederic Basse as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. The public release happened without involvement of Huawei. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
