Details
A vulnerability classified as very critical was found in Oracle Big Data Graph up to 1.1 (Big Data Software). This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the component Spatial. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-74. The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The MethodClosure class in runtime/MethodClosure.java in Apache Groovy 1.7.0 through 2.4.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service via a crafted serialized object.
The bug was discovered 07/16/2015. The weakness was shared 01/19/2017 by cpnrodzc7 with Zero Day Initiative as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - January 2017 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at oracle.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-3253 since 04/10/2015. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
