The bug was discovered 03/14/2015. The weakness was disclosed 01/23/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-8856 since 04/20/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
