A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Exponent CMS up to 2.3.7 Patch 2 (Content Management System). This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file install/index.php. The manipulation of the argument sc with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. Exponent CMS 2.x before 2.3.7 Patch 3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via the sc parameter to install/index.php.
The bug was discovered 02/03/2016. The weakness was published 01/23/2017 as File 135721/Exp (Packetstorm). The advisory is shared at packetstormsecurity.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-2242 since 02/07/2016. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
