A vulnerability was found in Adobe Acrobat Reader up to 11.0.18/15.006.30244/15.020.20042 (Document Reader Software) and classified as critical. Adobe Acrobat Reader versions 15.020.20042 and earlier, 15.006.30244 and earlier, 11.0.18 and earlier have an exploitable memory corruption vulnerability in the image conversion module related to JPEG parsing. Successful exploitation could lead to arbitrary code execution.
The bug was discovered 01/20/2017. The weakness was presented 01/24/2017 by Aleksandar Nikolic with Zero Day Initiative as APSB17-01 / ZDI-10-117 as confirmed advisory (Website) via ZDI (Zero Day Initiative). The advisory is shared at helpx.adobe.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-2972 since 12/02/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely.
