A vulnerability was found in Aerospike Database Server 3.10.0.3 (Database Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component Query Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. An exploitable stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the querying functionality of Aerospike Database Server 3.10.0.3. A specially crafted packet can cause a stack-based buffer overflow in the function as_sindex__simatch_list_by_set_binid resulting in remote code execution. An attacker can simply connect to the port to trigger this vulnerability.

The bug was discovered 01/09/2017. The weakness was published 01/26/2017 by Cisco with Cisco Talos (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-9054 since 10/26/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
