Crypto++ 5.6.4 incorrectly uses Microsoft's stack-based _malloca and _freea functions. The library will request a block of memory to align a table in memory. If the table is later reallocated, then the wrong pointer could be freed.
The bug was discovered 01/30/2017. The weakness was disclosed 01/30/2017 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-7544 since 09/09/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
