Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Wind River VxWorks up to 6.9.4.1. Affected is the function _authenticate of the file svc_auth.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Integer overflow in the _authenticate function in svc_auth.c in Wind River VxWorks 5.5 through 6.9.4.1, when the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) protocol is enabled, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a username and password.
