This issue affects some unknown processing of the component URL Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. Impacted is integrity. IBM Connections is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using a specially-crafted URL to execute script in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting Web site, once the URL is clicked. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.

The bug was discovered 08/10/2016. The weakness was published 02/08/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared at ibm.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-0305 since 12/08/2015.
