Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the nav_path function in lib/viewvc.py in ViewVC before 1.1.26 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the nav_data name.
The bug was discovered 02/18/2017. The weakness was published 02/09/2017 by Sebastien Delafond with Debian as [SECURITY] [DSA 3784-1] viewvc security update as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2017-5938 since 02/08/2017. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
