A vulnerability has been found in libav up to 11.3 (Multimedia Player Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function ff_audio_resample of the file resample.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. Heap-based buffer overflow in the ff_audio_resample function in resample.c in libav before 11.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via vectors related to buffer resizing.
The bug was discovered 08/07/2016. The weakness was presented 02/15/2017 (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-6832 since 08/17/2016.
