A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Apple Safari up to 9.x (Web Browser). Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component WebKit. An issue was discovered in certain Apple products. iOS before 10 is affected. Safari before 10 is affected. iTunes before 12.5.1 is affected. tvOS before 10 is affected. The issue involves the "WebKit" component. It allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via a crafted web site.
The bug was discovered 11/03/2016. The weakness was presented 02/20/2017 with Apple as HT207142 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-4764 since 05/11/2016. The attack may be launched remotely.
