OpenText Documentum D2 (formerly EMC Documentum D2) 4.x allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a crafted serialized Java object, related to the BeanShell (bsh) and Apache Commons Collections (ACC) libraries.

The bug was discovered 02/28/2016. The weakness was disclosed 02/15/2017 by Andrey B. Panfilov as CVE-2017-5586: Remote code execution in OpenText Documentum D2 as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-5586 since 01/25/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

A public exploit has been developed by Andrey B. Panfilov in Java and been published immediately after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at seclists.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 353 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
