A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Elefant CMS 1.3.12-RC (Content Management System). This affects some unknown processing of the component Blog Post Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability (Persistent). CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. This is going to have an impact on integrity.
The weakness was disclosed 02/16/2017 by Tim Coen with Curesec Research Team as Elefant CMS 1.3.12-RC: Multiple Persistent and Reflected XSS as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2017-20060. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Required for exploitation is a authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
