A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in libiberty (version now known). Affected by this issue is the function do_type of the file cplus-dem.c of the component Binary Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Buffer overflow in the do_type function in cplus-dem.c in libiberty allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (segmentation fault and crash) via a crafted binary.
The bug was discovered 05/05/2016. The weakness was disclosed 02/24/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at gcc.gnu.org.
