The espeak-ruby gem before 1.0.3 for Ruby allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in a string to the speak, save, bytes or bytes_wav method in lib/espeak/speech.rb.
The bug was discovered 01/31/2017. The weakness was disclosed 03/03/2017 (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-10193 since 02/01/2017. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
