A vulnerability was found in Wireshark up to 2.2.4 (Packet Analyzer Software). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file epan/dissectors/packet-ldss.c of the component LDSS Dissector. In Wireshark 2.2.0 to 2.2.4 and 2.0.0 to 2.0.10, there is an LDSS dissector crash, triggered by packet injection or a malformed capture file. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-ldss.c by ensuring that memory is allocated for a certain data structure.
The bug was discovered 03/03/2017. The weakness was published 03/04/2017 as Bug 13346 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugs.wireshark.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-6469 since 03/03/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
